Important Information for Buyers & Sellers

I. Disclaimer & Terms of Use

Find a Classic LLC (the “Platform”) provides an online marketplace for independent sellers (“Sellers”) to list classic and special interest vehicles for sale to prospective buyers (“Buyers”). THE PLATFORM IS SOLELY A VENUE FOR COMMUNICATION. FIND A CLASSIC LLC IS NOT A PARTY TO ANY TRANSACTION BETWEEN BUYERS AND SELLERS, NOR IS IT A BROKER, DEALER, OR AUCTION HOUSE. WE DO NOT TAKE POSSESSION OF VEHICLES, ACCEPT PAYMENTS, OR PROCESS TITLES.

A. Information Accuracy and Verification

  • All descriptions, images, pricing, and vehicle history information (“Listing Information”) are provided by the Seller, not Find a Classic LLC. We do not verify, guarantee, or warrant the accuracy, completeness, or truthfulness of any Listing Information.

  • Buyers are solely responsible for verifying all information provided by the Seller, including the vehicle’s condition, history (such as mileage and accident history), authenticity, and current title status.

  • Sellers are solely responsible for the accuracy of their listings, possessing valid ownership documents, and being legally able to transfer the vehicle title to the buyer.

B. Due Diligence and Inspections

  • Both Buyers and Sellers are strongly advised to exercise due diligence in every transaction.

  • Buyers are strongly encouraged to obtain an independent, third-party professional inspection and appraisal of any vehicle before finalizing a purchase.

  • Buyers should consider running a vehicle history report (e.g., Carfax or AutoCheck) and performing a lien search.

  • Meet in a safe, public location—preferably at a bank or MVD office—to conduct transactions and verify identities and documentation in person.

C. Financial Transactions and Escrow

  • Find a Classic LLC does not handle, receive, or process any financial transactions between Buyers and Sellers.

  • Buyers and Sellers should use secure, verifiable payment methods. A reputable, third-party escrow service specializing in classic vehicle sales is highly recommended to protect both parties’ funds and help ensure the title is transferred correctly.

  • Be cautious of requests for wire transfers, payment by gift cards, or overpayments accompanied by requests for a refund of the difference.

  • After a sale, Sellers should promptly complete any required “sold notice” or equivalent with their state’s MVD (such as the Arizona MVD) to limit future liability.

D. Limitation of Liability

  • Find a Classic LLC shall not be liable for any damages, losses, disputes, or claims arising out of or related to any transaction conducted on or through the Platform.

  • Users agree to indemnify and hold harmless Find a Classic LLC from and against any and all claims, liabilities, and expenses arising from their use of the Platform.

  • By using this website, you agree to these terms and acknowledge that you assume all risks associated with buying and selling vehicles online.

II. Fraud Awareness & Prevention

The classic car marketplace, like other high-value online environments, can attract scammers. At Find a Classic LLC, we are committed to providing a safe platform. This guide offers practical tips to help Buyers and Sellers protect themselves from fraudulent activities.

A. General Safety Tips

  • Trust your instincts. If a deal seems too good to be true or something feels “off,” proceed with caution or walk away.

  • Communicate through the Platform’s messaging system, if available, so that there is a record of your interactions.

  • When meeting in person for a test drive or transaction, select a well-lit, public location such as a bank lobby, MVD office, or police station parking lot.

  • Do not share sensitive personal or financial information (such as bank account numbers or Social Security numbers) with potential buyers or sellers.

B. For Buyers: How to Spot and Avoid Scams

  • Be wary of unbelievably low prices. Scammers often list desirable vehicles at a fraction of their market value to create urgency.

  • Use caution if the Seller claims to be deployed, traveling, or otherwise unavailable to meet in person and insists on handling everything through shipping or a “third-party agent.”

  • Legitimate Sellers typically accept verifiable payment methods such as cash in person, cashier’s checks verified by the bank, or secure escrow. Avoid wiring money directly to someone you do not know or sending funds through irreversible electronic transfers.

  • Be skeptical of pressure to act quickly or to skip essential steps like inspections and vehicle history checks.

  • Watch out for generic or reused photos. Request specific photos (like the VIN and odometer) to ensure authenticity.

  • Verify documentation. Always confirm that the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the title matches the vehicle and conduct an independent history check.

C. For Sellers: How to Spot and Avoid Scams

  • Beware of overpayment scams in which a buyer sends a check for more than the asking price and asks you to return the difference. The check is often fraudulent and will eventually bounce.

  • Guard against fake checks and counterfeit money. Always verify checks with the issuing bank before releasing the vehicle or title, and consider exchanging funds at a financial institution.

  • Be cautious of buyers who do not ask questions or seem overly eager to close a deal immediately without negotiation—this can be a red flag.

  • Never allow a test drive without you present in the vehicle. Verify that the driver has a valid license and insurance beforehand.

D. Reporting Suspicious Activity

  • If you encounter suspicious activity, a fraudulent listing, or a potential scammer on the Platform, report the user or listing to Find a Classic LLC using the designated reporting tools.

  • Contact local law enforcement if you believe you have been the target or victim of fraud.

  • Consider filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the appropriate state Attorney General’s office.

  • Stay vigilant and prioritize safety, documentation, and verification above all else.
